Does anyone know of a source for oversize (approx .25 or .50 mm over spec) piston rings for an m30b35? I've tried the usual online euro parts suppliers. Evidently Goetze is not making anything other than "standard" size rings for the b35, which is a bit of a surprise for a relatively mass-produced motor like the m30. The rings are available for early motors in various sizes--just not for the later m30 motors.
Some background: I was forced to disassemble and rebuild my m30b35 motor that was "donated" by an '88 735i. The motor required a bit of honing and may have been bored out previously since "standard" size rings have gaps that are larger than specified limits. I'm really looking to get this motor zipped together and the car on the road ... any help would be much appreciated. My multi-year project never seems to end.
