Overheating killed the E36 engine yesterday, probably because I said to myself how well that car was running...

Never one to turn my back, I am looking for a good condition M44 to replace it and a Downing Atalanta Supercharger to redouble the bet.

Please send me any leads you may have on a used M44, Norcal preferred, and advise on the DAG. I recall X_Atlas recommended that project when I got the car for my son.

Unfortunately, Arde, a DASC is not trivial to find anymore. Only thing worse than searching for NLA OEM parts is searching for NLA aftermarket parts.

Rather than a M44, how about switching in a M50? Tons of them available, VANOS/Non-VANOS were made, parts are everywhere, and it is an established swap.

Alternatively again, you could also turbo the M44, although getting a manifold made would be the expensive bit.

Yes I am discovering the DAG is NLA. Who has the details on the M50 conversion?

My car came already converted. This is a common conversion for an e30 body. Not sure if yours is an e36 or e30.

I believe treehouse racing (?) sells the wiring harness adapter.

My car was converted by sports and imports of chesapeake, va, which may or may not do you any good on the west coast. sportsandimports.net is their website.

I would imagine shops like LJI and people like sfdon have done these conversions.

I see yours is an e36. I would poke around on 318ti.org and see what others have done. Lots of 318tis have been converted, I bet you can find some owners in the bay area. I would imagine an e36 sedan would be about the same.
