hey there!

for this combo, what's the best clutch kit for normal driving. also can i use the stock m30 clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and release bearing?

Use the e9 clutch and slave. I used the e28 m5 clutch kit including the throw out and pilot bearing. You’ll be fine with that setup.

if you are using the 265 5 speed, i believe that you need to use the '74 e9 slave ... which is the same as the e12 (and i believe e24 / e28). the good news is that this slave is less expensive. i have the e28 m5 clutch kit to go into my car as well

Attached is an excellent article from Carl Nelson on the conversion. I have assembled all parts necessary for the swap I have the 265 5 peed overdrive Getrag just need a hoist to complete.

if you want a professional opinion, talk to our friend @sfdon ... he has installed all types and knows the pros / cons. since he sold all of his other types and now only installs the coupeking piece

Always good idea to investigate all opinions and options. This trans mount bracket was NLA and Germany started to manufacture them again. I am told using this will reduce vibration and is certainly a strong X member.

Very strong indeed.
much better than the cast model that tended to break in half.
even on the track when it fails and falls out the bottom of the car because It fits so poorly, you can jack the tranny back up and refit it very quickly.

The KK mount is superior in all aspects and should be used always IMO. It has 4 mounting points and is inexpensive considering the cost of doing the 5-speed conversion. I would think that with such a sturdy piece of steel and the additional points of contact (attachment) it would also stiffen the undercarriage to some small degree- although I am no engineer.

There are 3 attachment Points on the stamped steel unit. 2 points are lousy because it was never meant to fit in a coupe.
The CK unit has 6 points of contact that all fit correctly. How to you tell your client that you chose the 2nd best support for HIS car??

Always good to understand the application and driving type. For me I am not racing or hot-rodding just typical road driving. We do have a nice track here Gingerman, lots of BMW's mostly M3's this is not for me.

Another thumbs up to the coupe king transmission mounting setup - it has been fitted to my car and is a work of art - well worth the cost of the unit itself + shipping + duty fo importing into the UK.

And another endorsement for the Coupe King mounting kit from me too. The previous mount snapped (which was an E12 adapted part), and I wish I’d known about the CK part in the first place. Well worth the expense of shipping to the UK. It’s a great bit of kit!
