Thanks for that, mmhmm I've taken a copy. I missed out on purchasing a nice second hand manual consul on ebay Sunday night (at 2am Australian time) because I got logged out just at the last minute... extremely frustrating especially because I had to be up for work in 5hours (I had to laugh though)
So if anyone has a manual consul or knows where to get one it would be nice to hear from you

But the writeup should explain how to modify the automatic console surround into a manual, if your is in good shape it is worth doing.

Check out the one with the shifter surround bottom view and you will see how the cutout shape is already there in the wood.
Just be patient and careful with the vinyl, and leave extra vinyl in place before you cut it out to make sure you can finish it properly around the
new opening.

Arde, that's a great help and a great link. Thank you I'll look at it carefully before dissecting it. That conversion of the consol from auto to manual looks spot on.
