Well here is my next restoration, a BMW 3.0 CSL, a car I have always liked and a car that is a joy to drive.
I was quite fortunate to acquire the car as it was by word of mouth and that it was only 3 miles away from where I live.
The car has not been driven for about 25 years and has been in storage all that time in a dusty barn, so it’s a true barn find!
The car is complete but some of the interior and a few bits of the engine have been taken to bits, as you can see from the photos.
The car is currently in a dark metallic blue, but the original colour is pale metallic blue – I believe its Fiord Blue
The car chassis number is right in the middle of the run and was registered in 1973, the number is 2285331
The boot bonnet and doors are Aluminium and it has the correct seats and steering wheel.
Engine number is the same as the chassis so it’s quite original, but the engine is sized, so a bit of work there!
The car has had a big spoiler put on, so I will investigate that and probably put it back to original.
All the bits that are off the car will be initially put back on so I know what if anything is missing, it mainly the interior that has been taken out.
It will have to go in storage for 12 months while I finish off my Jaguar XK150 OTS, but in that time I can start getting the bits to get on with the restoration.

Quite looking forward carefully taking it to bits and restoring it back to it full glory, and hopefully with being German Engineering it should be a joy to work on.
Like my other blogs, I hope this will help anyone embarking on a full restoration and give some good reference pictures.
If you see anything wrong, please tell me as I’m not perfect and would like any feedback……
I’m more used to old English cars in the 50s and 60s and Imperial spanner sizes – it’s a chance to dig out and dust off my unused metric sockets and spanners for a change!
Pictures are taken as it has come off the transporter, i had to wash it down before i went back to work just to see how bad it is...
