I have a 1973 3.0cs with a build date of 5/1973 and in the need of a Master Cylinder.

I see that there are 2 different ones listed on the Maximillian site. P/N 34 31 1 103 271 with a D=23.81mm and the second P/N 34 31 1 120 479 with D=22.20mm.

How can I tell which one is on my car? What difference in the bore size make?

Thanks,

well...

other things being equal, a larger bore in the brake master cylinder means less brake pedal stroke length to displace brake fluid into the calipers. However, you lose a little bit of hydraulic advantage, so maybe things even out. The bores are pretty close, aren't they?

What bore size do you have now?

I have not taken it off as yet.

Just looking for a way to id what I have and to see why there are 2 different ones.

Anyone know why?

Thanks,

Brake cylinder

FYI to all in case anyone needs it,

I had the 23,81mm Brake Master Cylinder on my production date 5/73 3.0cs. Max shows the p/n 34 31 1 103 271 being ended. My parts guy crossed the number to 34 31 1 120 832. Same as older E12 and E24.

The 23,81mm does have a larger shaft than the 22,20mm. My guy sent me both so I could compare.
