I bought a pile of BMW parts from a hoard someone had. In it is a brand new FAG M.C. When I google the part number a listing of cars appear as well as a bunch of crossover BMW part numbers. When i go into realoem, it shows that it will fit cars from the 2800’s up through csi’s

Anyone have any thoughts? as I want to sell it but at the sametime make sure of it’s usage.

FAG part number cast into the body is FAG S5339

The only way to answer your question is to take them apart which isn’t going to happen. I have sold 2 others from the same batch of parts to members on this forum and have received favorable replies so I have to think these are also good. There are also rubber plugs where the lines and reservoir attach and the rubber there is mint.

I have sold a good amount of parts to forum members here’d and you can check the feedback on me.

Calm down Bert, I wasn't questioning your reputation I was asking a relevant question. If these are older NOS units then the rubber could very well have dried out or become compromised. Don't get defensive when a good question is asked.

Nothing meant against you either. So, no offense should be taken. And yes, your question was a reasonable one.

The best answer to your question is: When one buys parts from a parts source, how do they know how long it has been on the suppliers shelf? ?

I can only go by the fact that I have sold 5 of these for various models and havee not had a complaint. This is the best source I can think of to answer the original question
