Hey all, long time no talk. A few things to report today for group feedback:

1) Megasquirt ignition advance: I've been talking with SFdon and some others on the board over time about the MS ignition advance table. Right now I have a fairly conservative table after running an aggressive map early on which led to pinging under load. But now I think I'm leaving power on the table. Don gave me a good map which provides worry free power, etc. but I want to improve things. Several of you have engine set ups like mine (10:0.1 motor, L-jetronic, performance exhaust) with Megasquirt who could benefit from better tuning. I can send you my current state of tune if you want to pm your email to me. Mark DeSilva has not returned my email inquiries. What do folks suggest?

2) Sun visor female retainer clips: Also, does anyone know of a source for sun visor female end retainer clips other than Coupeguy? Both of mine are broken now and the visors sag.

I want to get my girl ready for next year's Monterey reunion on BMW's 100 birthday and there are several projects, including my car's achilles heal (AC), to get sorted out.

My goal is to ship my car out to Orange County to join my old gang there, drive up to Monterey together and ship my car back from the SF area to Virginia.

By chance, are you running coil packs? If so, what is your cam position setup?

I don't recall if Wayne is running coil pack but I am. Are you asking if there is a cam position sensor, or whether the cam is installed with an adjustable cam gear?

Hi Drew,

My apologies for not being clear. Ideally, I would like to run individual coil packs (6), and sequential injection - which (I believe) requires a Cam Position sensor. That said, I will need both: an adjustable cam gear sprocket for cam setup, and cam position sensor for the MS3 Pro.

Looking for both.

Offset Adjustable Cam Gear
Resurfacing the cylinder head retards the camshaft timing. Use this gear to advance it back to specification. Machined for 1,3,5 and 7 degrees of offset. Can also be used to fine tune the power band of the engine.

Here is one way to do it. Brazed a pin onto the adjustable cam gear. Then welded on a boss to the timing cover to thread in a Cherry Hall sensor. This works nicely on the b35 distributor setup. I did something similar with the b30 timing cover running with a coil pack. Pinned the side of the gear at the end of the cam shaft (that normally drives the bottom of the distributor).

single coil

Hi there, sorry for late reply. I'm running a single coil with the MS.
