Driving this evening near my house in Boston when I saw a pretty BMW 1800 on the side of the road next to an auto shop sign. I had seen some old Mercedes in the same spot before but the BMW got me interested. As I drove into the off street lot I saw an interesting BMW parked in the corner - knew right away it was an E9. I met the shop owner, very nice guy. He showed me the E9 he had just acquired from Colorado - 1974 Baikal Blue. Baikal blue looks so nice in person. I threw the kids in the back and was able to confirm that there is plenty of space back there for them. We explored the car and talked E9's and classic BMWs for a while. All in all it reinforced my desire to own one. I will be dropping back in for a test drive during the week.

Got home, did a little digging and realized it is a car recently sold on BaT that I was watching:

What are the odds that I would randomly stumble upon it two months later, 10 miles from my house! Interesting car, possibly a fair buy at the BaT price but now being resold at a higher price.

If you don't end up buying the e9, you could always have a look at the little Lancia Fulvia on BAT currently bidding is up to $3200, an absolute steal for a sporty classic that won't go down in value and are great fun to drive, if you kneed more pep than the 1.3 they also made a 1.6 fanalone version which will warm your cockles.

Cheers. John
