I am about to replace my tires and am considering putting metal valve stems on my stock rims after I refinish them, any pros or cons to ruber ones? Suggested brands/sources?

SS rusts too where we live. Checked out your BBQ pit lately?

It's one of those personal choices though. They cost about $6/wheel vs. $2. Even though the tire stores probably pay 25cents. I bought a set with new Michelins on the wifes BMW and wonder why every time I wash the wheels.

If you had style fives all polished lips, etc. I'd say go for it. But stock... hmm... my personal taste would be rubber just to be nostalgic/ period. Then everyone says nice wheels instead of nice stems.

Are you doing the wheels yourself?

Point well taken. Yes will redo myself - plan on filling minor rash with JB Weld, sanding, and respray with Polaris (mixed at auto paint store in spray cans) and then probably clear coat. Any tips?

If you want the best and it to last the longest, bead blast. Epoxy primer ( seals the metal), then the color. Spray them laying down not hanging.

I'd look real close.... it looks to me like only the face was silver and the barrel/ backside was light grey... even on the Alpina 14"rs in my shed.

Dry coats on the clear- not too shiney.

The JB is fine or allmetal. Use a file too.
