Hi - does anyone know if the Metric Mechanic "Ultimate Transmission" has any serviceable parts that are different than the stock unit? If so, what parts? And are refresh kits available?
Come to find out after finding the receipt and warranty certificate my Bavaria had this upgrade completed in 1987.
Regards,
Paulaner

Some time ago, there was a discussion on the forums about Metric Mechanic engines. I can't find the forum thread, but I did bookmark the Metric Mechanic site.

They're still in business, and I bet you can get in touch with them for the full details of your transmission rebuild. Here are some links I had; the 6-cylinder transmission details are towards the bottom of the page.

I remember reading that because of a lack of repair parts for the Getrag 265/6 transmission, they had redesigned some parts and were installing the new versions. Mainly the synchronizers and a couple of bearings, if I remember correctly.
So in short, yes, you must contact MM for information on further work to your transmission.

He's no longer in Kansas City but is in south central Missouri. The address listed on his website is 505 E Main St, Richland, MO 65556.

Just got off with Jim at Metric Mechanic. Sounds like literally no annual maintenance is required other than new ATF every year or two. Said that they do not recommend any disassembly unless it needs to be rebuilt again, which he claimed they have never had to do for a customer before. "Ultimate Transmission" is true I guess.
