Mobile Tradition Parts?

I have bought most of my E9 parts from Tisher. They are an on line BMW parts dealer.

If you have a local BMW store, they can get the parts and you save on shipping costs. An alternative, that is used extensively by the price-conscious 2002 guys, is Steve Patterson at Blunt Tech Industries (contact [email protected]). He knows the RealOEM system better than most.

Ok my bad.

I didn't look carefully enough at the dealer sites.
I have ordered many parts before for 80's cars and did not realize
they had parts this far back.
Yes, I know Steve at Bluntech and will try him.

For some reason I thought the Mobile Tradition was some kind of exclusive
access to the older parts.

I used to buy parts from Brian at the Chattanooga dealer and they were the best prices around but the dealer stopped allowing this. No explanation???

Thanks so much.
I'll try to do a better job on my research next time.

To all those Fathers out there hope you have a great Father's Day.

Also check the Roundel (BMWCCA Mag) for 40% off from dealerships around the country. Factor in the cost of shipping and you might have a good deal.

Gary,

i buy from Penske most of the time - they've always got it done - they give a 10% discount on prices that are starting at the same price as max. btw, the grill they have is not the pure chrome grill that is on your car (or should be if i remember correctly) its the black and chrome for a 74. penske also has an etk interface too.

if you need it, i have the white parts books. i'll give you a call this weekend and hopefully drive by.

So another newbie question.

Do you guys buy parts from Maximillian, a BMW Mobile Tradition parts supplier?
Looks like they are the only Mobile Tradition dealer?

It's amazing what they show on the ETK?
Expensive but they have it.
A new center grill for $220.00

I've had great interactions with Evan & Jason at getbmwparts.com (with Tischer / BMW of Silver Springs, MD) They seem to have the lowest prices, usually even below Penske.

As other have stated, there is no 'exclusive' on Mobile Tradition parts by Maximillian or anyone else. All the parts are just BMW parts and they are available through any dealer. My local dealer, and I think most, gives a 10% discount for BMWCCA members. Yes there is sales tax but no shipping charges and delivery from Germany, where most of the parts I order seem to reside, in 7-10 days, or less in many cases.

My problem with the online retailers has been that for an extra theoretical 15% in savings over ordering from my dealer (20% online discount vs my 10% local dealer discount offset by the 5% sales tax) the shipping offsets a fair amount of that. More problematic is that the online retailers will wait until all parts are in before shipping, or you pay multiple shipping charges. Additionally, I believe that dealers can opt to receive parts from Germany via slower shipping than FedEx (which is the 7-10 day quoted time and what I always get from my dealer) in order to save $$ so you end up waiting several weeks in that case. My dealer is 7 minutes away and I can pick up parts as they come in and you can't beat that for convenience for an additional $50-$100 on a $1,000 order. If I'm placing a small order of just a few $100's, the savings through ordering online were just not worth the hassle for me.

Thing to watch out for is the multiple tiers of both retail MSRP and wholesale pricing. One dealer's "wholesale" price may be sig different from another's. For some, the walk-in off street pricing is quite higher than the suggested retail price, let alone the CCA price. I once got a glimpse of a Volvo dealer's parts pricing tiers, and the complexity was staggering.

My local dealer charges way over MSRP for parts and then gives a CCA discount to just a lot over MSRP. I buy parts from Tischer because, even with the shipping cost, it is less expensive than the local dealer.

That's too bad. My dealer has the same list price as Tischer and Penske so my 10% discount is real.
