Mono speaker options

I've thinking of a period radio install and running a single mono speaker in the dash.

Interested to hear about any speaker upgrade that would still fit behind the original dash cover. Has anyone done this with reasonable results ?

I have a dash speaker that is a supplemental speaker for kick panel & rear parcel shelf speakers. The dash speaker is not very powerful, so you may not be satisfied with it's sound level especially with the windows down.

here is what i did, the center speaker is one of 10 speakers in my car, but you get the idea.
