Off topic again, sorry but I recently found an M635 CSI, EURO, not an M-spec but an original 1984 Euro import M635 Csi 5-speed, non rust, Texas car, I know they are not the favorite models here and cosmetically it could use some new paint, some interior work but fairly solid with the M88 or S38 engine, I don't know which one since from what i can tell the cat's are the only difference and this one has cats but I'm not sure if they were added to pass smog?

Anyhow, in "good" condition what is one of these things worth- ball park?

I'm not following what you mean by "not an M spec", do you mean it's missing the trim package? There is an M635i in Seattle listed for $17K. They are essentially a european M6 with more HP, 286 to be precise.

In general, the e24 M6 is behind the e28 M5 in value. One can get a beat-down M5 for $9K to $10K so I would think one could acquire a beat down M6 for a similar figure. By comparison, a regular early 80's M90 euro 635CSI beater is selling for about $1,500 to $3,000 depending on condition, and up to $15K-$20K in great condition. I would think that a beat up M635CSI is worth anywhere from $5K - $8K. You can sell the motor for $4K-$5K right?

Hi Markos, I appreciate your help, yes, what most people are calling M6's are not "M" cars, they have the regular intake and 2 valves per cyl. The M88/S38 engine would be in the 17K cars, I'm wondering if there is any additional value to the car being an "Euro" car with the smaller bumpers.

Peter, send a pic of the engine and we can tell if it's a M88 or S38, or goggle image each one. Two equal condition cars, that is US and European or Japan, the non US may get a bit more. The mechanical condition of the M88/S38 and mileage is the key factor for each. I have a M6, glad to discuss if you want.

If it's really an M635CSi from 1984 it will have the M88/3 286HP motor. If it's just a euro 635CSi its a b34 with 218HP.

I see a lot of e24's (and e28's) with an M badge stuck on the body, but I don't usually see or hear people to refer to them as an actual M car. I think in general euro cars are more desirable. For reference, here is the reaction to a $28K M635CSI that VSR1 listed not all that long ago:

I'd suggest engine checkout would be #1. Compression, leak down, etc. BIG bucks for rebuilds. If engine checks, not too many miles, little rust, these are in increasing demand.

Here are some pictures. The only thing that is not really original on the car is the rear spoiler however I have an original that can replace it. My hope is that my esteemed colleagues on the site here will be able to offer a current valuation and then a 100 point car valuation. I have receipts of the engine being totally rebuilt but have not examined the documentation in detail. Any and all feedback is requested. Thanks!!
