Are there any posts or links to sites that have a DIY for the motronic conversion for the CSI? Thanks.

If you use the motronic manifold, then you should be able to just take off all the previous stuff, including the front timing cover, then put on the Motronic parts. Downside is you'd have to get a 2002tii brake booster, which isn't cheap.

. . .and if you don't use the Motronic manifold, it is a very difficult and time-consuming conversion. The Motronic parts and the D-Jet manifold don't really play very nicely together without significant modifications. Either way, you still end up mucking up the whole thing with a big, ugly air flow meter that looks out of place on a coupe.

Is there a DIY for this conversion?

There is -- sort of, though it'll take some parsing of various faqs.

There are a variety of L-jet to Motronic faqs in the Techinical FAQ section at firstfives.org, but they're broken down into various systems (harness, parts req'd, throttle, etc).

Of course you're coming from D-jet, so the upgrade for carbed E9s to L-jet should be req'd reading as well: http://www.bmwcsregistry.org/Technical/EFIConversion.html

Finally, there is a motronic conversion description for doing a 3.5L engine swap on the SSR, which is sorta helpful: http://www.seniorsix.org/witandwisdom/petemotronic.html

The firstfives.org stuff will be the most useful, I suspect. HTH.

If going with the Motronic manifold, then the process is pretty straight foreward. The easiest thing to do is snag a harness from a later M30 that had the same CR, along with the sensors, manifold, fuel rail, injectors, distributor, and DME. I was able to get this entire package used from the local pick-n-pull for 300$.

Thanks, these were definatly what I was looking for. I am not interested in the engine swap just EFI swap, but I will read. If anyone has any other links let me know, Thanks again.
