Has anzone had anz success with drilling out the epoxy plug and adjusting the MPS for mixture in running? I remember reading about it years ago and might be taking my car to get set up on a rolling road soon.

Hi Rohan,

I did this a few years ago, when I tried to adapt the D-Jetronic to a 3.5 liter Alpina B9 engine.
It took me several months before I managed to find an acceptable - but not perfect - setup.

After you remove the epoxy plug you will find two concentrical potentiometers.
If I remember well one controls the "floor" (+/- like idle jets in a carb) and the other one controls the "slope" (+/- like main jets in a carb).

The people with the more advanced D-Jetronic knowledge seem to be Porsche 914 drivers.
If you want to explore this, I can send you a few usefull documents.

FYI : BMW did not change anything to the pressure sensor for the 3153ccm engine.
They only raised the fuel pressure from 2 bar to 2,3 bar.

Hey Marc,

thats interesting that thats all they did for the extras c 150cc. I will have to check the fuel pressure on mine. I am running slightly higher pressure than standard on my 3003cc csl and have slightly higher flow injectors.

I will google 914 sites and see what they do with the MPS but it could be useful to play around with it on a rolling road.

Hope you are well!

Rohan

Hi Marc,

the injectors are Bosch# 0 280 150 036. My car is slightly bored out when it was rebuily but nothing material. I will dial the fuel pressure back a bit as more pressure and more flow will lead to it being overfuelled i guess.

Rohan,

It looks like injectors 0 280 150 036 have the same flow (380cc/min) as the original 0 280 150 043 used on the 3.0csi/csl engine.
It should not be necessary to compensate with less pressure.
You should be fine between 2 and 2,2 bar I imagine.

Marc

Hi Marc, you are correct, looking back in my notes it was that my car had 015 injectors in it before and then i put in these 043. It seemed to run fine on 015 despite lower flow and posted 200hp on a rolling road.
