Well, here she is. Not done yet, but I need to take a break and just drive it.

Bulk of the work done by Peter at CoupeKing with substantial help from Jim at Mesa Performance and Carl at La Jolla Independent.

Exterior: Rust addressed, new paint, new glass, restored Alpinas, bumper conversion,…

Mechanicals: 5sp conversion, stainless break lines, rebuilt Webbers, re-cored radiator, new heater core, AC, power steering, starter, ugh… I can’t remember it all. Probably shorter to list what wasn’t replaced…

Interior: Dynamat sound and thermal proofing, new dash, wood, carpet, seats, headliner, repainted instruments (done by NoHo Speedo), stealth stereo speakers by Eric at CoupeKing

Next phase will be to roll the fenders so I can put in lowering springs. But for now, see you on the 405.

Thanks. CoupeKing did the interior--all of it. Seats are actually stock. Color is charcoal which is somewhere between black and grey. The combination of the walnut trim, charcoal upholstery and silver paint was borrowed from a modern M3 I saw at the dealer.

One sweet

Man,
One must admire! Sweet, so glad I could help...inspire at least! BTW...the models will be forthcoming!
For the big bumper guys...that is a 1974...what is possible...I love it.

This is an old thread but, David, since you went through a full repaint and all, out of curiosity, why did you decide to keep the US side reflectors?

Thank you.

Stock or Mod?

Yes, I've been thinking about this issue as well.
I'll be doing a full paint on my US spec 1970 2800cs and was wondering about taking off the reflectors as well. My tendency is to leave cars stock, even when the change would improve the looks of the car.
They are there for safety and the roads are certainly more congested now than in the '70's when they were mandated. But they are quite ugly. I may fill the holes with lead so it would be easy to reverse in the future.

David, where did you get the bar between the front struts? It looks great.

HOly crap, what's left to be done? Car is all beautiful!

Ya, take off those side markers on the new project.

Sometimes I wish I had left the red rear sidemarker LIGHTS. They are actually wired and if you remove them, you have a nice hole seen from inside the trunk.

On the other hand, the yellow front REFLECTORS seem redundant next to the turn signal indicators.

However, few of us would disagree that the delete of both results in a cleaner look!!

And if you are doing body work and painting, it is quite tempting to pull the trigger.

Interior Wood

Love the wood trim. Looks like Burled Walnut by Madera. Congrat's on all the work, it has certainly paid off.

The reality is that I did ask the shop to delete them and they didn't. I was so pissed I just left it as is. Just thinking about it again gets me mad. The paint job is just terrible. Now that my other project is wrapping up, Im putting the coupe back in the paint booth to finally get those deleted, move the antenna, roll the fenders, and paint it in the correct color.

Thanks. Correct on the wood. But it was done by a guy in the foothills of Altadena, CA. One of those aging craftsmen we wont have for much longer. Let me know if you want his info---Im sure I have it somewhere.

Thanks. That's a piece that Orangener built long ago:

He did a great job. I learned early on to buy things like these when they come around, since they usually never appear twice. Still mad I missed out on those map lights...

Thank you David. I'm sorry if I unintentionally put salt in the wounds.
I was just curious in case someone had a good reason to keep them that I was not aware of. Everything else looks so stunning.

BTW, Where are you having it repainted?

Bo.
