Life got in the way of Coupe ownership, so my Coupe found a new home today. As someone who spends way too much time on online car forums, I wanted to give a heartfelt thank you to the members of this forum for helping maintain such a wonderful community.

Numerous DIY's came in handy, I was priviledged to meet numerous members at different events, and the collective wisdom here made Coupe ownership pretty painless.

Hopefully some day soon I'll join the ranks of Coupe ownership again...I'll just try to get a more exciting color. ;)

Hi Brendan,

I found out your Coupe was purchased by a friend of a friend. As you probably found out, Ken is a gearhead and will be a great custodian of your E9.

My prayers go out to your FIL and thank you for sharing your info/knowledge as I was making my Coupe purchase a few years ago too.

Strangely I have a feeling I'll be seeing much more of this E9 as the months go by! Ken is amongst a circle of car friends whos projects I enjoy following.

Good luck with things

Of all the people it could have gone to, I couldn't have asked for a better one. I was just looking at his RX4 and my jaw hit the ground. It's nice to know it's in good hands.

Glad to hear your car is going to someone who will care for it and maintain it's great condition. Sorry to know about your FIL's health problems, but want to send my admiration for your decision to part with a 'toy' to help with a real NEED. God Bless, and our best wishes for your family.

Brendan,

I'll take good care of the car. Already adjusted the clutch. :)

I'll clean her up and put her way for the winter. Work starts in the spring. Until then, its parts shopping.

Thanks,

Ken

Welcome Ken! Don't change the color!!! :)

Brenden, I won't say goodbye since our online paths will continue to cross. You already my thoughts. :)

I'm known for Polaris. Gold BBS RS as well. :). I have a set of Recaros.

So, brief plan thus far.

1. Pull Driveline.
2. Disassemble
3. To to body shop
4. Renew and update suspension - stitch welding, possible redo rear trailing arms from more modern BMW, coilovers in front. Wilwood one all four corners, bilstein HDs. Poly bushings and bigger swaybars. Powder coat everything.
5. Motor - not sure yet. Possible triple side drafts and port head with bigger valves. Or ?
6. Renew interior and dynamat.
7. Battery to rear.
8. Hide/tuck wiring.
7. Silicon and stainless steel hoses
8. Modern AC.

Brendan, I think it may be necessary to transfer your user name to the new owner, maybe MyFemurHurtsJr., That way when you return you can pick up where you left off. Best of luck and do pop in now and again, there are still many of us who will be in the 12-step program for life-

Congrats. Plans look good for next chapter. With that said, I think you may find that shiny blingity things under the hood look out of place in these cars. After you get tired of the stainless and colored hose popping out at you, you can paint them flat black.

Have fun!

Brendan, I saw this quote and thought of you.... hope you stick around!

Cliff Clavin Quotes from Cheers Quotes
# ” CLIFF:” It’s a little known fact that the tan became popular in what is known as the Bronze Age.

Would that be known as the beige age? :D

Wouldn't that actually be "MyTibiaHurts?" :p

Goodbye. Now I have the chance to ask - whats the story behind the name you chose?

When I was a kid I played Little League, and I was a good catcher. I was training a new kid, and when he was squatting a bunch he stands up, groans, and complains "Man...my femur hurts!" Not his quads, not his legs, his femurs. I laughed, and then I started using that for screen names back when Al Gore invented the internet.

I still lurk the forums, mostly because I like seeing other Coupe projects move forward. I dearly miss mine, and now wish that I didn't sell it, but I made the right move at the right time. Now I'm back to hunting around for a weekend car. If I go cheap, I'm thinking Euro E24 or E28, or if I splurge I might get a GTV. If the right Coupe comes along I might pick it up, but it seems after a ton hit the market after Monterey this year that there has been a dry spell of good ones.
