Hadn't run my coupe in a couple weeks. Engine turns over strong but it dosn't seem to be getting fuel. Is there a filter I could check first? How would I test the fuel pump?

if you have carbs, disconnect the main coil wire so the engine doesn't accidently start, disconnect the fuel line from a carburetor and put the end into a container. Crank the engine to see if fuel comes out.

injection, should have thought to include that info

Is it a D-Jet or later Motronic system?

Regardless, you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump working when you have the key in the "run" position. The stock fuel pump is located in the back, by the fuel tank.

d-jet

I am being redundant here, yet I have found with my d-jet coupe she is very sensitive to poor grounding. Last time I had starting issues I ended up replacing the negative battery cable although it looked OK and the engine turned over fine. I have also run a dedicated 14 ga. ground wire from the battery to the fuel pump ground wire located by the ECU under the right rear seat. I would say to start here...If you run a couple of temporary wires to the pump and it runs, you may want to do what I did with the dedicated ground wire. Check all ground straps to include the engine to chassis braided bit. Could also be a relay issue. Two are important...the relay at the ECU as well as the master relay bolted inboard on the brake booster, the one you need to look at is the lower one of the two mounted to the booster.
On the subject of d-jet, one item that is often overlooked is the coolant block for the auxiliary air valve located beneath the intake tubes. This is alloy and becomes corroded and choked off with age, causing a bogus temperature to the sender for the ECU. Result is that the engine runs over rich at all times. To all you old d-jet guys, if you haven't cleaned this part yourself I would get on it just for drill, EZ to do. Amazing how well the engine runs when this part is pristine, essential.
Hope this helps.
