My lower dash panel under the steering wheel is coming apart and drooping down. I think I can glue it together the part that is coming apart, but how do I secure the whole panel to stay tighter and closer to the steering wheel?

Thanks

There are some 4-5 screws holding it in place. Some towards the console and some on the wall to the engine bay as well as towards the driver. Not all are accessible for the outside. How many of yours are still there?

First

decide if the console sides are drooping. My solution was to wedge under the cross bar which becomes bent after years of pushing on window switches, etc. The right side of the under dash center cover mounts in two places to the left console side panel.

Center of lower panel has a lip of sorts that fits into the steering column. If that's broken, you can insert small metal tabs painted black for center support.

Lower at the floor on the long "L" is another bracket.

Left side, to align, there is a bracket for the trip odometer. There is some adjustment there if you loosen the chrome securing ring/ nut. If that side is really down you can place that bracket on top of the same assembly with a little effort. The same nut/ ring will catch the bottom of the bracket.

Glue- Devcon two part clear epoxy. Careful clamping with wooden blocking
to prevent damaging the plastic. Clean the surfaces as best you can, sand etc. Clean off any excess expoxy quickly with W-D 40 or some such cleaner. Touch up the edges with an artist brush and your favorite Testers model paint and blend.

Don't leave clamps on for longer than necessary. If the front panel is really loose, proceed in stages if required.

There are more posts on this subject here.

Good luck. Post your results.

I had some drooping also, and repaired with 3M Super Weatherstrip adhesive and wooden clamps.

Epoxy is probably fine, but does dry very hard. I used the weatherstrip adhesive just in case I had to repair my repair, as epoxy is a one-shot deal.
