I have a 1972 BMW 3.0cs i have had all the engine trans suspension removed and sand blasted the whole car and painted completely know i am thinking to put in a 1991 535I engine and a dogleg transmission any suggestions because its going to be my daily driver thanks

....errr...please don't do it, and keep it stock ?
is that one good for you (as a suggestion )?

arguments for keeping is stock aside...a 5 speed is a nice upgrade, but don't put in a dog leg, it's not worth the effort. Thats like just putting five gears in the current ratio that you have four in now (if it's a manual). Go with the standard five speed, it's better for daily driving. Now if you are going to race it thats a different story.

Throw the later motor in also but not with the dogleg tranny. For a little more ummph, lower the ratio on the diff. Purists be damned and as far as I can tell, it will have little to no effect on resale value anyway. My opinion.

And if you are thinking of this car as an investment, then I've got some great ocean front property in Utah I can sell you cheap.:)

Give me a minute to get my flame suit on.
