I saw these two unknown electrical devices inside the engine compartment at the bottom of the right front fender when I was building this car, but since they were apparently both abandoned I just left them in place....

I figured they were either for the abandoned AC system or for the original Zenith carbs (replaced by Webers by a PO), or both.

I've started into modernizing the AC system, so it's time to find out what they were (are) for.

They are part of the emissions system and control the dashpots on the firewall that are attached to vacuum hoses. One of the dashpots slows the return of the accelerator to reduce emissions.

Ummmm Dick?

it has a label.

it’s your Drehzahlschalter!

Leider habe ich nur wenig Deutsch. Ich weiß, das ist seltsam für jemanden namens Steinkamp

Thanks, Chris. I'll just leave them in place in case the next owner of this car wants to do an E9 type of restoration on it. ;)
