apparently fell out of the dash onto the access panelwhen opening the hood. Very small bulb similar to a minature christmas tree lamp. Any identification would be helpful. Looks to me like part #8 in the diagram which unfortunately doesn't show a description any longer. Thought I'd ask before I got up under the dash...lol.

You mean I actually helped you out with something? Edit: Nevermind!

I thought that #8 shows the bulbs that you insert in the back of each instrument. These are 2W bulbs originally, Sylvania I think.

The gear selector indicator is self contained and outside the dash...

Bulb

That bulb is used in the hazard, rear defrost & fog light switch. Was never used on the instruments. Also used in the heater control panel on post 72 coupes. Major PIA to change!

Anyone have the part number for the ignition switch bulb/lamp? My wire has an angle connector and no lamp which leads me to beleive there's something different about that bulb. Didn't see it in the parts diagram under the usual suspects- steering, instruments, and electrical, so perhaps I just missed it or it's in an obscure to me category.

I tend to agree on the mistery lamp that it comes from a lighted switch, it's tiny. But why would it fall out the back if it's inside a switch?

Left over spare from a repair possibly.

Looks like 62111350062. I can take a picture of it later if you want.

Looks like there's a corresponding socket that the wire attaches. Back to the lab ( under the dash) to recheck the situation.

I noticed a groove in the column or cover, so the socket must slide in there to hold it.
