.....italian prancer...

spied this 'shape' sitting in traffic the other day around Berkeley, CA.

So, fellow car buffs, a challenge: name that shape!

my guess: a mid 60s 275 GTB.......Ferrari 8)

That's the shape you point at when your wife complains about the cost of your coupe restoration. You can truthfully say "Oh boy, the guy who's restoring THAT is dropping some serious money - isn't it fortunate that I just play around with those inexpensive E9's!"

You got that right. The cost of the paint job on the 275 would buy a nice coupe. If you throw in the dollars for the engine rebuild and you could have a really nice CSL.

I don't think it is a 275, I think the shape is a '62-'63 250 GTO. The side vents, drooping nose and Kamm tail all say GTO. Of course, with only some 36 GTO's ever made it probably is a replica or recreation.

D B Couper had written: "Of course, with only some 36 GTO's ever made it probably is a replica or recreation"

Well, it could be. But there are several serious restoration shops in Berkeley, so it wouldn't be out of the question to see a real one getting trucked around.

D B Couper is mistaken...it's a 275.

Chicane is right...I am mistaken. My mistake was in thinking that this was a harmless quiz and volunteering an opinion. Had I know that I was in the presence of such dogmatic certainty I would never have dared offer a guess. On the other hand, though mistaken, I can be gracious and say: Kudos to those who are so pompous as to step on those who opine"
