Question for the faithful:

I bought from Crowder's a 360 Nardi and the hub adapter kit. My mechanic called me saying that he thinks there's a part missing. Namely: a part that keeps the horn contact constant, which he says should be from the base of the hub adapter kit to the steering column area.

Any insight appreciated from people who have done this, which I suspect is many...is there a connector in that region?

thanks

If I'm reading your descriptions correctly, then I gather the Nardi hub is missing the horn contact ring. The pic below shows the ring from a Nardi that I used to have. Don't know if the horn contact is a readily available part from Nardi. If this is the case, then one can easily adapt a later BMW horn contact (still available) into the Nardi. There is also the pin that attaches to the steering column, in addition being sold by BMW, it is also still available from various part vendors (cheap).

Thanks! I believe issue is solved (for now). The mechanic is saying that you are correct and there is no horn contact ring. The spring-loaded 'peg' is intact (and for future reference I believe it is $11 from Mesa. I'm not sure what happened to the ring...!

Not to belabor this, but I just want to have absolute certainty before I buy...On the photo posted by Bert from his old Nardi, the horn contact ring appears to be solid, no holes, similar to the 2002ti ring i see on ebay (see my attached photo below). On Crowder's, the ring that comes with the kit is the 'horn button retainer ring' (see my other photo below). The question: does one need both the horn button retainer ring AND the horn contact ring? And if one does need both, would the 2002 example work for my E9 nardi project?

thanks!

mystery solved! I took my old wheel out of storage...et voila! (and per email from crowder's:

Some of Nardi's hub adapters require the re-installation of OEM parts. If you look on the bottom of the hub adapter you received, there will be 2 screw holes where that contact ring from the factory wheel would transfer from the factory steering wheel to the other hub adapter. We do have some horn contact rings available for other hub adapters that may work with the hub adapter you received, but you would most likely have to glue it down as the contact rings were for other hub adapters.... Please let me know if you need one or if you have the one from the factory wheel.

My original captain's wheel, out of storage (and the horn ring):

Much like the origin issue of this thread, you may still need the horn contact ring. Nardi uses an OEM ring. It costs around $20. I can add a pic later.
