for me and for many others the classic pattern tyre look is a must in stock wheels

considering that the michelin xwx are that expensive, the alternative, is VREDESTEIN, a norwegian brand that makes limited series of very good tyres,
i have the SPRINT CLASSIC in my cs,

very nice looking, and very good performance together with a rwasonable price, i recall one costs around 120eur

check in the website, and you will see the pattern, it is awesome !

I had a difficult time finding 14" tires that had a decent speed rating. I run 215/60-14 tires and used to use BFG TA radials. BFG no longer has a good speed rated tire in my size. I found a kind of off brand tire called Riken that fits my needs. From what I was told they are a spin off from Michelin. They seem to be a decent tire and have not displayed any ill handling problems.

To find matching "Donald Duck" tires in 205/70-14 isn't easy these days.

If these tires could annul the laws of nature, you could say that performance is as good what you paid for them.
I still think the laws of nature still rules regarding to performance, and they are just only beautiful to watch.

I've got two set of tires. One for "period correct" and one for "driving" :)

//Cheers

Just received a set of Original wheels and very old tires that look very Euro today. They are Sears 175 14's and say made in West Germany on the side. Wonder who made those. I'll post a photo in a couple of days. The tires sure must have been stored well for how old they are and how they look.

I seem to remember that Michelin made tires for Sears back in the day...I had a set for my 2002 in the early 70's.

Sears tires were made by Michelin and were among the first radials to be available for our big pieces of Detroit Iron. I purchased a set for our last station wagon--"the Blue Whale--it was a 1968 Chrysler 9 passenger model--and if you have ever seen one you would agree with the whale part--it was a huge hauler powered by a 440 cubic inch V-8 that really pulled.

Later on my older son reported that it would do 130 MPH on the Sears radials and it was still going up when he "chickened out"--thank God he did as by surviving and mellowing with age--now a senior citizen--he has become my regular and skilled chauffer whenever traveing longer distances in the BLUMAX.

these are the vredestein
fantastic performance with the appropriate aesthetics, and around 100euro each one !:shock:

Per suggestions here, I just bought and mounted a set of 215/60-14 Mirada tires on factory alloys. H speed rating. Very satisfied so far. The set of Yoko AVS that I had for 15 years had some dry rotting on the sidewalls and suffered a belt separation on the way home from the Vintage.
