guys... need help in identifying this old antenna that was likely installed early in my e9's life.
This was trunk mounted with wiring 'somehow' hooked up to the original Blaupunkt radio.
I do not know how it was hooked up to the radio to power it up/down.

There are only the yellow and red wires that DO operate the unit. There is NO ground wire.
It works up/down when you switch the wires +/- to the battery.

The radio set up included a factory Blaupunkt fader/balance module (VERY period...) but I could not find any switch to operate the antenna the way one would expect.

I would like to use this on the car as it appears to be fully functional.

Can anyone ID this unit? It is not a Hirschmann...

Any help would be appreciated

when i got my coupe it had the original non-automatic hirschmann on it. When the dealer put it in they installed a toggle switch on the steering column to operate the up/down so either there is a switch hidden somewhere or you'll have to wire one in. If it were auto it would have another wire to feed off the radio.

If you certain that by switching the leads on the +/- terminal the antenna goes up and after switching the wires the antenna goes down you'll need a separate switch just as Stevehouse suggested.
However there are also Hirschmann antennas with just 2 leads (ground is established by mounting the antenna to the body) where one lead to + makes the antenna go up and the other lead to + makes the antenna go down. I had such an antenna on my coupe. This type of antenna requires a separate control relay which gets its signal from the a wire or contact coming from the radio.
The antenna HB Chris is referring to has this control relay built in, has a seperate ground wire, a wire going to + and a control wire going directly to the radio.
To operate the last two I described in "automatic" mode your radio has to be equipped with with the antenna control contact. You may have to do some research here by using the model name of the Blaupunkt radio. If the radio does not have this contact and you want an electric antenna you'll have to add a switch in either case, using the old or switching to a new antenna.

thanks, guys for the advice...I will have to sort it all out. I did find the orig Blaupunkt warranty card that has the model # on it... Interestingly enough, it is AM/FM but no built in fader or balance knob. It came with a BP external fader/balance knob that the 4 prong speaker plub plugs into. Wierd set-up. Also the AM dial reads left to right and the FM dial reads right to left. Never seen that before. Will post a pic.
