I have been trying to figure out what is what on the trim parts for my quarter panel windows. If you go into “vehicle trim” and then “glazing” to diagram 51 / 37 what are the rubber seals #51361837225 and #51361837226 ? Also in 51 / 37 what are the gaskets #51376740175 that we supposedly need two of ? Finally in diagram 51 / 36 what are the window guides #51326654262 ? They are apparently used in the front window too.

My final photo is the 2 moldings at the bottom of the ¼ glass (one outside, the other is inside) that show the parts I’d like to replace. Basically I’d just like to replace all the weather stripping / anti-rattle strips to keep the ¼ windows tight. Some of these special order parts are expensive so I don’t want to order the wrong parts and piss off the local BMW dealer. O.E.M. parts or even reproduction is better than nothing. As always any leads or tips are much appreciated. THANK YOU ~ John Buchtenkirch

225/226 are the larger outside rubber seals that you need that fit into the chrome trim. Not sure what 175 is. Part 262 looks like the u shaped felt channel for front and rear windows as noted. I think your last photo shows the felt brush that goes on both inside and outside of rear window, they have been NLA for some time. You can buy generic strips, cut them with snips the fit the rear window radius and then pop rivet to trim piece which is what I did.

THANKS once again Chris. Where did you source the generic strips you mentioned ? I can find all that stuff down at Hershey but that meet is several months away, I hope to be on the road by then. I can’t quite see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project but I’m getting close to that point. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Chris,
I see a future as a purveyor of NLA parts and instructions for their use!
You are a wealth of information !!

Felt brushes were from MB but I would check at an auto Trinidad shop first.

(headed to Atlanta today, how does everyone handle the heat and humidity? Glad I'm not in the coupe!)
