need rear muffler for 73 cs?

What can i use as replacement? everything else is good underneath
mechanic says there is a crack in muffler .. can I fix it? also am i to understand you can use a 2800 muffler?

Can you weld?
The 2800CS parts have smaller pipes and only fit if you have the whole system. Probably moot as they are probably NLA. At least they were for many years.

Hi:
When you were told there is a "crack" in it, by the mechanic, ask him if it was on a seam. I had a similar predicament last year, but mine was the upper tac-welded seam that had subtly separated over time. Since the muffler looked quite good otherwise, I bought a muffler tape/resin "kit", and repaired it in place. I hoping it will defer a full replacement for a couple years.
