Tom,

most of us (in the Americas) have long since ditched our York compressor in favor of a Sanden rotary compressor - much more efficient and less of a strain on the engine.

I understand :-(
Generally i would agree in terms of efficiency-aspect... But my intention was to replace the broken one and be ready again quickly.
But if i dont see any further chance to receive an original compressor I will think about changing the parts too.

But which parts have to be changed all? only the compressor and use e.g. adapter for pipes; or must all parts be replaced?

I think you mean like that:

Which other system is may "compatible" by old BMW? e24? exx?
Thanks for any support! I must cry :-(

To just put a rotary compressor on you will only need to buy one with the correct flare fittings and adapter bracket, however with the different locations of the rotary compressor fittings, new high and low pressure hoses might need to be fitted (easy to do) if not long enough.

This may help with the various components:

Like Scott said, the rotary is much improved over the York.

Hello!
Does anybody know which oil i have to fill in & how much? (ml) must exchange R12 to R134a anyway - but for installation purpose the oil has to be replaced and as the compressor is not mounted yet it would be easier...
old replacoing oil i found in documentation was Shell Clavus 33 BP Energol LPT 100 Suniso Nr. 5 Texaco Capelle E
but i dont find a source for these oils in europe
Thanks for support!

i´m now at the stage to refit everything as i reworked my complete engine for 2 years...

any r134a oil will work
at any parts store.
its generic
and about the amount
a spray cap top is about the capacity.

Hello Tom

I have a relatively new YORK AC compressor which I took out of my 1973 CS. I plan to completely replace the system some day.

The previous owner bought it new in 2005 when he had the AC system refurbished. By the time I bought the car in 2010 all of the coolant had leaked out. I tested the fan switch and compressor which both worked but decided to take the compressor out rather than try to refill the system.

I have the two lines to the compressor but no guarantee that they are sound as I did not do a pressure test.

Would be happy to get 75 Euros for the compressor or 100 Euros together with the two lines.

I am in Montreal so at least your freight cost would be from east coast Canada.

Let me know if you are interested.

Paul

Hello Paul thanks for offer - but i received one out of spain 2 years ago.

What i require is to know which oil i can fill in instead the original mentioned was Shell Clavus 33 BP Energol LPT 100 Suniso Nr. 5 Texaco Capelle E

the oil is supposed to be inserted in crankshaft area ~300ml

but there it must be "engine"oil or something like that?

somebody said to me "use PAG 100"
i dont know what to do because i feel this is oil for circulating in all the climate pipes? cooling...
but not for the crankshaft area inside the lower comprssor area

Please can somebody enlighten me on that?
KR Thomas!

Don't you have a shop that works on A/C systems? Take it to them for filling and let them charge it when completed.

THE OIL IS PART OF THE FREON
THATS WHY THERE ARE TWO KINDS ON FOR 1345A
and one for r-12
all the freon circs thru there also
