Is it just me or is the new 'hyped' up Alfa Guilia Sedan a HUGE bore?

To me the back looks like a Camry....the front like some sort of Dodge....and that air dam....who are they kidding with the scoops...like they really have to be that big & gaudy...

The worst part is everyone praises its style....I feel it is definitely missing that 'Alfa Soul'

This is coming from a guy whose first car was an Alfa, but who knows...what do I know right?

These new cars are making me light headed.....Wow, I guess that was my rant for now....

Sorry if this post seems random but cars do not feel the way they use to for me....

Could you post a pic or two so we can get a good look at the rump and schnoz.
Agree, cars have not felt they way they used to for a long time.

The Car...

Here is the car

The front is not as bad....but boy is there a certain amount of emotion and feeling missing. I guess its all in the details, which is so easily overlooked nowadays....

I would imagine that by the time you meet crash survivability standards, crash repair cost considerations, pedestrian impact standards, aerodynamics to meet fuel economy standards and pressure from the accountants to keep production costs down, there isn't a whole heck of a lot of room left for emotion.

Well said, that's why they all look the same now.

Styling Vs. Requirements

You guys are probably right, maybe I am too old school & maybe the new guys need to have a turn....

I do think the 360 degree cut around the hood brings a nice touch of quality. There is still a lot of blank space in the body or grill for me....just a 1-5 % reduction in surface area would make a big difference.

The whole car looks too uniform to me, but then again I am not dealing with real world issues. But I always thought real world thinking was for buses, trains, and minivans.....not passionate cars like the Alfa Romeo.

Mostly agree

But Alfa hasn't built a handsome sedan in a long time. The Alfas that evoke passion are the coach built cars, Giulietta spiders and Sprint coupes, GTVs pre 1972, 1900 Coupes, etc. The original Giulia sedan is interesting and functional, but not really a pretty car. The Milano was interesting too, but not pretty. The 164 kind of bland.

So, this might be the best Alfa four door design since the 1900 sedan was introduced 65 years ago.

It is no worse than BMW sedans these days. Audi I think still wins the design wars. The S4 and RS5 are fantastic sedans and coupes. Despite dating from 2008, they are still knockouts.

Alfa Post 1990...

So what you are saying is that Alfa never recovered from the 1986 takeover by FIAT..?

Then it would be safe to say we should throw FIAT under the bus for poor design choices post 1990?....or would it be the other way around:roll:

In any case, what plagues most modern cars is there is too much surface area. Some manufacturers have figured it out with knife edge body lines ala BMW & some Mercedes.

But I am still a kid that remembers those old model cars I assembled with just four wheels & a chassis...it is what some of the best cars evolved from and possibly the truest shape form.

This car could at least benefit from some dark mascara around the headlights such as the Alfa 156 or the like....

The rear kind of resembles the 1 series.
