New door seals

I just mounted a complete door seal on one of my cars.
It is now quite difficult to close the door. I have to use much more force than before. If I use normal "power"/pressure, it stops way before even being close .....

Is this to be expected, and will give way after a couple of weeks (with the door closed) ????

I have heard this from a few people. My doors are hard enough to close so I can imagine with new seals they would be especially tricky!

I changed one side on another car last year, and cannot remember that the new seal caused this.....
I will give it a couple of weeks with the door closed and see what happens.

It also caused the door window, when fully closed, to scratch the chrome liner outside the rear quarterlight, as I close the door.
Immediate remedy is to shut the passenger door with the window down a bit, and then close the window. Not ideal....
Can glass be "sanded" in any way? We are talking millimetres.
