i can not see the magazine, but that caption you mentioned is stupid
never, i repeat never a woman has turned her head while i was passing by with my e9,....or, no, it is not true, once when i was stopped in the traffict lights a woman turned her head and told me: "what a beautiful car you have !", ...(...but she was probably eighty years old) :-D:-D:-D

Stopped at a red light next to a young woman driving a 2002. She yelled!! "I want your car."

The young(4 years old) daughter of a friend climbed into the driver's seat. We had to pry her out of the car crying, "I want to stay here."

And my wife tells me she sees heads of both genders turning as we drive by.

and then there is the reverse affect..

Now, when my wife drives the car without me, she usually gets compliments from the men (mostly about the car, but who really knows). The combo of a beautiful car driven by an attractive women has a doubling effect on us poor guys.

Women who like or notice cars--

do take notice of Coupes--but--seems rarely that they own them. In our group just how many E-9's are owned by members of the opposite sex?

My observations may be flawed but in my nearly 40 years of Coupe ownership I have met very few women owners--admirers yes--owners no. Plus, it has always been my belief that the E-9 is a very masculine car. Hence--my frequent reference to BLUMAX as "He".

2nd Owner

My car may be the exception to that rule.

The second owner of my car was a lady named Gaye Richards. Judging by the receipt history from 1977 to 1990, she was exceptionally devoted to the car: she repaired the shock towers, replaced the hood and window glass, upgraded to the JAM Weber kit, painted it, and ultimately replaced the engine before giving up and parking it in a friend's barn. She made an effort to be part of the BMW community too. I found in my stack of records meeting minutes from the BMW Automobile Club of America from February 11, 1987.

Ultimately, I think she gave the car away when maintenance and repairs took the enjoyment out of ownership. Unlike me (us), I don't think women enjoy the challenge of making a broken car run, especially if it's their only one. I think lack of female ownership has more to do with the age of these cars than their character.

Read again my comment--

in my nearly 40 years of very active Coupe ownership and involvement in E-9 owner groups as they were formed--I believe I clearly stated there have been VERY FEW women who have owned these masculine cars--one women owner for a few years regarding your E-9 kind of fits into the term of very few per my observations.

A former wife also owned one for a few years--until we parted--a real car gal who enjoyed the Coupe--but it was up to me to maintain it and to get it serviced, etc.

True story

First weekend I got my coupe an EXTREMELY attractive women turned around after footing my car and followed me 2 miles to gas station just to tell me with truly adoring eyes that she loves my car. I thought for a very long second that she was coming onto me, then her extremely large and handsome husband got out of the car to admire my coupe too. Must admit I was mote than slightly disappointed
True story

The original owner of my car was a woman - her family owns a large well-known dutch distillery, she's in her late 70's now. She kept it until 1985 or so.

There is a current female coupe owner in Pasadena, CA. Car looks bone stock, but taken care of enough to look like a daily driver. No idea who she is...

Well most recently the CSL that auction off for $159K in Monterey a few weeks ago was a woman stepping up to the plate.

A good looking woman in a classic car does it for me. Driving home the other day in the 107 sl i pulled up next to a girl driving a TR4 - she was gorgeous and so was the car. We exchanged compliments and drove off.

If i ever meet a young lady with a csl thats me gone.

My first exposure to a coupe

I was at Boston U. in the 70,s and was dating this rich bitch from Old Westbury Long Island. Went to her house and she took me for a ride in her dad's 3.ocs 4 speed. She scared the crap out of me down some curvy roads. I couldnt believe how that car handled. I always wanted one since then. Unfortunately it took almost 30 years. Better late than never
