I had a few holes in my exhaust so a couple of months ago for kicks, I drove into Midas (just like the commercial with old man Creedy in his Model T) with my +20 year old life time guarantee in hand. Needless to say there was no one left in the shop that installed my last system and to be honest I do not really think they want to install mufflers at Midas anymore. They said they were sorry and could not help me but if I found a custom exhaust they would install it for me (but no discount). In all fairness the only part of the exhaust system they installed 20 years ago that was actually theirs was the muffler itself which still appeared OK. It was the BMW components that had the holes.

I purchased the sst exhaust system from W&N and am having it installed at my BMW mechanics shop this week along with replacing the mounts for the motor, transmission, and differential (have to start slowly getting her ready for the trans-continental trip).

I installed a W&N stainless system on my coupe around 3 months ago. It's a beautifully crafted system, all mandrel bends beautiful welds. The system looks very much like the stock system but stainless. All three mufflers are made from polished stainless and about 10" of the tailpipe is polished. I think the system complete with gaskets and stainless hardware freight was $1245.00. A friend and I installed the system on jack stands in my garage, everything fit extremely well. I contacted W&N and confirmed these systems are built by Lirini. The system has a nice note, very similar to stock.

I have a relatively new original system for sale now if anyone is interested.

I'll get on it but I should first describe the system. The center muffler is either Leistritz or Bosal, I'll check. There is no center resonator (formed straight pipe). The rear muffler is a new old stock Eberspacher. The rear muffler was for a 2800cs and has been adapted for a 3.0cs system. The tailpipe has been modified slightly to fit the 3.0. The system is welded at the front muffler center pipe and into the rear muffler, the tailpipe bolts on. The system has a good note no louder than a complete stock system. The only way I can ship this is to cut the center pipe and have a joint made for reassembly. If you're interested I'll need shipping info and in the mean time I'll get pictures to post.
