Here are some pic's of my dash refinish and new gauge install.

I know some out there will say that to change from original is not a good thing. But this BMW was not the caliber of car to be concerned about. Floor pans replaced X4 + now needs rockers replacement.
Wood and interior were in fair/poor condition before custom work and color changes.
Back together and everything works, whew. A lot of work, but I like it.
Hope you like the changes!
steve

Looks fantastic! I love burl. Did you do the console side panels yourself?

vraned
The consoles and entire rest of interior were done last year in San Diego. I wish I had the expertise to accomplish this, but I just designed the color combination.

dash re-veneer

Very nicely done. Where'd you get all of the clamps?! FWIW, I bought a FoodSaver at WallyWorld for about $75 and vacuum-pressed my dash/door pieces. Merchandised it to my wife as a SalmonSaver, which it is until the next veneering project. Used their heavy duty bags for the wood, cheap ones for fish, etc. Really is a good product. Sorry to horn in on your thread; the burl does look super, and I like the speaker-delete! Dave V. in NC

Very nice, Is your interior Grey Leather? Do you have pictures of the rest of the interior?

Cheers

Clamps belonged to friend in the sailboat refinishing business and worked great. I initially tried the vac bag but couldn't get enough suction.

Interior is black seats, light grey over med grey door panels. Med grey kicks and center armrest in rear.
Will try to find pic's of interior from last year group listing. But will shoot new pic's once interior install complete.

New front windshield and chrome trim installed this wednesday.

No work to be had right now, so I work on the car and motorcycle instead.
Keeps me off of the streets and out of the bars/casino's, LOL!

The gauge was made for my application by No Hollywood Speedometer.
The clock housing can't be used because it is too thin. I sent them a stock fuel/oil gauge housing and they made what I wanted. Cost was very reasonable.
It is not stock, but!!!!
It went into a non-stock interior, so it all fit well for my application.
P Cain's gauge was the inspiration

Steve,

Thumbs up. Love the three color tones of the interior. What shop in San Diego did you have the interior and dash done?

Thanks,

Walter

They really need to just start selling the modified gauge. I'd love to have a 4-reading unit like Paul Cain has in place of my (dead) clock. Oil pressure, oil temp, voltage, and perhaps gearbox temp.

Very nice. I cant tell from the phot, what are you reading in that custom gauge ? Is that alternator voltage and oil pressure ?

I re- veneered the wood dash and door panels. "jewelbox carpathian elm burl"
gauge is oil p/ voltmeter
Upholstery was done by Jim's in costa mesa if I remember correctly. Recommended by Carl Nelson.
I did all removal and install

You probably meant Jim's in Kearny Mesa, he is about 7 or 8 miles from Carl and does excellent and affordable work. RonP has used them many times.

Chris
You are correct. Kearny mesa. I don't live anywhere in the vicinity, so names become vague with old age memory!
Good work, reasonable cost.
