New record?

The Washington car is a very very nice car.
Might be the new normal for that condition.
Keep those postings in case you need to justify agreed value with an insurer.

i have a nice pile of money to bet that Mike's coupe is the definition of high sale of a non CSL e9 coupe ... probably on par with some CSL (non BAT) in decent shape. what the amount is does not matter - first, because there are few coupes that can even come close to the level of fit + finish ... second, because its a private sale.

The two BaT high sales this year give most of us reason to breathe that the amount of money we are putting into our coupes is warranted and not going to put us upside down in them.

$125k? Yikes! Now I'm reluctant to drive mine!

BTW, took 3rd place with mine at the VT BMWCCA club's Oktoberfast show this weekend.

Very purty.

$125k for a #2 car
$135k for the superman car with incorrect sheetmetal on the floors/spare tire well.

Can only imagine what a #1 correctly restored (not necessarily 100% original bolt on parts) car goes for. What Mike's car appears to look like.

my guess is you need to add a whole number multiplier, not a decimal. just think of what the custom leather from Juan Ortiz costs for seats, petri, door panels, arm rests - as much as some people paid for their whole coupe. then imagine how much was spent in ceramic coating with speedway ... also probably more than some coupes cost. now think about how much was spent to find the best used parts - which generally means that you buy 3 to 6 of each part (of course you can sell the extras later).

Money spent on a restoration does not always equate for a 1:1 return on that.

I can spend $1M on a restoration, but the best #1 non-CSL E9 Coupe will never sell for $1M.

not my point ... this is arguably better than any coupe left the factory floor, better than any other restoration, beautifully prepared body and fabricated parts from exceptional craftsmen - those are not things that are discounted - if anything they are worth more than the sum of their parts / costs. what is often discounted is labor, especially your own labor. this is a coupe that can compete on any stage - no reason to apologize about anything ... therefore no reason to discount. also remember - want to sell is much different than the need to sell. to me the only better coupe to have is a perfect original coupe, and there are probably only a few of those ... i know of one, and i don't think you could touch it for 150k ... i asked for a number and got a 'not for sale at any price'.
