Nice one, Cole!

A friend sent me the link this morning. Cole's car looks incredible. The article is interesting but I don't know if I can go along with this statement "the conventional wisdom among E9 enthusiasts is that there are two ways to build one. The first is to completely restore it to concours standards. The second is to turn it into a Batmobile."

Most of us have modified our E9s a little but has anyone here turned their coupe into a batmobile replica?

It's beautiful!!!

But I know my criteria when I restored mine 20yrs ago were durability, practicality, and GOBS of power! Originality was a factor for appearance, but budget mandated use of a few JCWhitney parts (I challenge you to find them)!

Funny...

I first saw this article posted up this morning over on the Audi quattroworld.com forum, which I frequent. You've got fans over there, too.

Looks very cool & sexy! Except for horrid brown color....But how to drive over humps, up sharp hills etc... without shearing whole undercarriage off???

It has never scraped on anything. its not that low. stock ones just sit so high.

sits like a amg mercedes, or alot of alpina late models. :)

my the middle of my front wheel well to the ground measures 23 1/4.

my scub line is above the wheel. its never scraped on a speed bump drive way. I use a stainless muffler in the rear ,in basic stock position, diam. is a bit smaller and its above the rear end. ( i can slid a floor jack under center section now!)

I made new outer rockers that curve slower to the bottom ,it makes it look alot lower but ends up at the same place (pinch weld) on the bottom.

My coupe measures 25 ¼” to the top of the front wheel opening with about 4 ½” clearance under the front cross member and even a wee bit more to the uni-body rails. Thru the years I have pulled out a few different cars that bottomed out and believe me it’s never pretty. It’s something I would never want happening to my car so I’m an advocate for skid pans or plates on lowered cars. Unfortunately skid plates are kinda like fire extinguishers, most people don’t give them much thought till after they need them. ~ John Buchtenkirch
