They're called wrinklewall slicks. The forward traction is amazing. I ran them on my 68 Roadrunner back in the 70's.

This was a bracket race at OCIR in Irvine. I got a head start based on my handicap.

A side note - the name underneath mine on the door of the car is Lou Aguiar, a kid who lived across the street from me and helped out with the car. He went on to become a punter in the NFL, playing for the Packers and Chiefs.
