My csi has developed a knock from the back axle so i am looking for ideas. The noise was only when turning right and accelerating in low gears, now also when going straight and under acceleration in low gears, no noise when not accelerating. It sounds like the cv joint on a front wheel drive giving up. Definite rumble and not a whine.

I did not want to sound like a person calling a help desk that is clueless so I :
Jacked up back back wheels and spun wheel them no noise and no play.
Took hold of the prop shaft, no apparent play.
Both drive shafts, again no apparent play. All rubber boots ok.
Gave each suspension shaft a good pull about, not easy under a car on axle stands, but found nothing.
From experience do you guys think I could feel play in a worn drive shaft or prop? A long shot but could one of the bushes cause this noise?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
C

Could be a number of things, which includes: bad rear CV joints, differential mount, worn rear shocks/suspension components, bad center bearing, or a defective guibo. Does not sound like a bad drive shaft or bad U-joints to me.
