Noise from the brakes

I'm in the process of repairing a 70 Coupe 2.5 that has had some adjustments made over the years namely 3.0 lt engine upgrade from carbs to injection. The car drives beautifuly but when Im driving in town or using the brakes alot they seem to stiffen up and it feels like something is grinding ever so slightly when I press the pedal in. The noise is not coming from anything obviously mechanical and is not there all the time only after a long period of using the brake frequently. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Does it do it only after using them a lot, or after one or two hard stops, as well?

Since this is a Euro car, does it have a brake booster, or is it the dual-master setup found on later Euro coupes?

Wish your description was a little less vague. Grinding sounds very mechanical to me. When you describe grinding, the first thing that comes to mind is worn brake pads so that metal is gouging your rotors. When was the last time you examined your brakes? Last time you changed your pads?

You may be misinterpreting the noise or the pedal feel for something else including worn tires or a suspension related issue (although I doubt it.) My first inclination is to examine the pads and rotors. If nothing seems obvious, I would examine closer by pulling the pads. I might even sand them and grind a chamfer into any leading edge of the pads.

Cheers, I will look at the pads, perhaps if I describe it as the pedal getting harder to push after alot of us.

As Im new to the world of e9 im really not sure where to investigate about brake boosters etc, the car has been highly modified so it is unlikely that the standard era parts are there. I will investigate and let you know what braking system is in place.

Thanks again
