Hey guys. One of the first two owners replaced my points based distributor with an electronic one. I was going to replace the rotor, points and condensor and was shocked to find out there was no points or condensor. I took a picture of the distributor which has some casting numbers on it. I'm hoping one of the guys on here who knows this stuff in your sleep can help me figure out how to buy the right rotor and cap since I don't know the origin of this distributor.
Also, should I go ahead and switch to an electronic engine management system to maximize the benefit OR maybe switch back to the old points based distributor? Just looking for some advice based on past experience. As always, thanks for the time guys.

Carl - The points on these distributors were often replaced by the Petronix ignition module. This is considered a good upgrade - as it is all contained with the existing distributor housing (and you don't ever have to worry about adjusting the points or replacing pitted ones).

The part numbers for the rotor and cap should be embossed on the underside of the piece. I found the following Bosch part number from my old rotor 1.234.332.074. I suspect that the cap and rotors are the same for most of these Bosch distributors.

A full electronic management system is different topic (if I understood your original post correctly). One upgrade is the Motronic 1.3 setup. I am not sure if anyone has gone directly from D-jet to Megasquirt. Some EFI systems require the distributor centrifugal advance and vacuum advance to be disabled, but still use the original distributor with points or with the petronix. Optionally with EFI systems you can ditch the distributor altogether and use coil packs.
