I am reluctantly selling my 1970 2800CS coupe. The car has been in CA since new and I have owned it for approximately 5 years. Below are some relevant details as well as history on the car. The car is located in the Bay Area. Asking price is $12,750. Please email me at [email protected] for more information. I also have a lot more pics I can pass along.

- tundra green
- five speed (originally automatic)
- camel interior
- approximately 173,000 miles
- no visible rust issues in trunk, wheel wells or other typical problem areas
- mechanically in great shape
- lots of documentation for car (since late 80s)
- recent new tires/battery; fan clutch and throttle linkage
- decent looker; could use a respray
- most everything works; three windows are gummed up and A/C is disconnected

I have records for the car from September 1985 forward. At the time the car was owned by an individual in Los Gatos, CA and was maintained by Auto Haus Los Gatos in Campell. I believe that owner was the first or second owner of the car. The car had 85,592 miles on the odometer at that point.

In 1991, the car changed hands and was purchased by a couple Los Altos, CA.

In 1992, the new owners did a bunch of work, including addressing some rust issues on rocker panels; new fuel pump; straightened a front fender that was dented (looks like a minor accident). Work done at Fechner Auto Restoration in San Jose.

In 1994, the engine was replaced with a rebuilt 2800 cc engine; automatic was replaced with low mileage 5 speed; new front vented rotors, calipers; rebuilt driveshaft; recharged a/c; new Dinan front springs; new Bilsteins; new rear heavy duty springs; new rear vented rotors; rebuilt rear calipers; new radiator; new thermostat; new engine mounts; E30 M3 wheels installed. Work done at Fechner Auto Restoration in San Jose.

In 1997, new distributor installed, new water pump, rebuilt clutch master cylinder, new ignition, new fuel pump. Work done at Fechner Auto Restoration in San Jose.

In 2001, there appears to be have been an accident in which the front end of the car was damaged. Nose/fenders/hood repaired. No damage to the frame. Work done at Fechner Auto Restoration in San Jose.

In 2003/2004, the car was sold to a gentlemen in Chowchilla.

In 2004, the clutch/tranmission was serviced. Work done at Arcane Automotive in Fresno.

I bought the car in November 2005. Car had 170,000 miles at the time.

In January 2006, water pump replaced, alternator and power steering hose replaced. Work done at Palo Alto Bimmer.

In May 2006, fan clutch replaced. Work done at Palo Alto Bimmer.

In October 2008, throttle linkage replaced; oil filter; minor service. Work done at Palo Alto Bimmer.

Known problems - front passenger window and two rear windows do not go down; I think the motors must be gummed up. Only piece of missing interior trim is the lower long length chrome strip on one door. Wood needs to be redone eventually; seats are worn but in pretty good shape; some minor cracks in dash. AC does not work - I don't think the belt is installed. On the outside, clearcoat wear on one c-pillar. Could use a respray in the next few years. Glass/chrome is pretty good.

I 'member this car when it was in Los Gatos and when it was purchased by the family in Los Altos, he worked for the USGS as I recall. Boyd did good work on it, last I saw of it...it was a nice car, Tundra looks fab with a tan (or even that butterscotchy-color) interior. Were I still in CA I'd go take a look!

Andre, thanks. I added some more pics but must have changed the permissions inadvertently. The link should be viewable now.
