Looking for any recommendations on where to chemically strip (no sand or media blasting); repair very minor road rash and repaint (not powder coat) a set of Alpina rims. Prefer SF Bay Area.
Don, I think he only does powder coat. He didn't want to paint mine at least...
unfortunately that is anywhere in the US. I just had some work done and my painter in PA said the same thing.Paint strippers in Calif are not what they used to be. The new stuff is sooo weak.
Hey Chris... do you know of a brand or specific product that qualifies as "good paint stripper" - which includes the definition will not eat, craze, or do bad things to my rims?An old body shop trick I learned:
Get good paint stripper.
Apply and let sit under plastic wrap for a couple hours.
When the paint is peeling away use thick rubber gloves and a red scotch pad.
Finally once everything is removed and your happy with your results, Wash down with hot soapy water. I always recommend just regular dawn dish soap.
