gotta share this one with my coupe brethren:
so had lunch today with my father-in-law, he wanted to show me his brand new Maserati coupe - beautiful car, spectacular in fact. after lunch, as we are leaving the restaurant, both my coupe and his car were parked side-by-side. guy walks up from the maserati side and says 'now THATS a beautiful car', walks right past the maserati (father-in-law now scowling), and wants to know all about my coupe.

price of a brand-new spectacular maserati: $140k.
humiliating your father-in-law with your 40 year old coupe: priceless!

Great story. Earlier this year my wife and I drove the coupe to the Biltmore in Santa Barbara for the weekend. The valet parked it up front in between a Panamera Turbo and a Bentley coupe. He later told me that everyone was asking about my coupe and were even taking photos.

Our local BMW dealer had an open house earlier this year. I parked the coupe right in front of the entrance. They were a little irritated that it was getting more attention than the new cars that they wanted to show off.

When I went to look at new cars a few weeks ago (not just a looky-loo; I actually bought one) I parked my coupe right in front of the BMW dealer. A salesman actually said "It's a shame we don't make cars that pretty any more."

Too true, my friend, too true.

When I took my coupe to a local BMWCCA chapter meeting at the BMW dealer I parked in front of the showroom. There was stampede of salespeople and owners of newer cars. Poor devils.

that is not fair,...i do not have such glamourous story in my records,

well maybe this, ...once i was having lunch in a restaurant, and when i finished and went out, a couple of middle aged japanese businessmen were admiring my e9, ...japanese ? i know, i know,... but i do not live in a turistic place, and it is not easy to find lots of exotic foreigners !

the issue was, being as polite as japanese are, they respectfully asked me permission to take some pictures of the car with their mobiles, ..... and they finished possing with me and the car as if i was someone from the starsystem !

and that closes my experience in others admiring my e9 !

...yeah, it was that old lady when i stopped inthe trafficlights too, ...but that is another story :-D

I have two...

The first was a day after I bought my coupe from Coupe King and was driving it home to New Hampshire. Day one I get to Albuquerque and as I am looking for my hotel a police cruiser pulls along side. The officer, complete with reflector sunglasses (what you can see out can't nobody see in) and the serious face looks over and gives me the thumbs up.

Years later in New Hampshire, stopped at a light, a kid with the goatee, sideways hat etc, driving a lowered VW looks over and shouts "cool car man"

Actually, I have many more, but those are the more memorable

Beauty way to go...

Had my coupe over to a local independent shop a couple of months ago for a brake fluid flush. A guy had his Jag V-12 XKE roadster in for drivability issues...he spent more time
ogling my coupe than he did worrying about his own ride! And we can all agree the XKE is a beautiful car...
Alan...I brought a boat into Seattle on Wednesday, tied up at 11:00 am and on a plane home at 7:00 pm. Next time I hope to have the time to visit a bit with you and Sven, never seems to be the way. Beers at the Red Door on me!

The Red Door!! I haven't been there in at least twenty years. Some great memories of wild times at that establishment.

Count me in, I'll make the drive up.
