Has anyone put these OEM style 61 wheels on a CS and how do they look?

http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/wheels/bmw_wheel_061.jpg

they were available on 2000-2001 7 series. Saw a set of them on a 740i and they look like nice wheels and very similar to the classic Alpinas. 16" x 7.5" with a 20mm offset. I found a used set with tires for a very resonable price and might have to try them.

I like them.

I can stand modern wheels on a coupe. I almost got a set of Style 33 for mine at a bargain price. I only don't like the 5-spoke varieties.

I don't know what tire size is mounted on the set you're thinking about, but the correct overall diameter is 24.9" I believe. TireRack.com thinks that a 225-50-16 would fit on that 7.5" rim. If you have to replace the tires, I don't know if it would be such a bargain. Any luck?

I too do not like the look of the more modern wheel design on a CS. 5 spoke wheels look terrible, even 15 spoke and 30 spoke just look off. I am also not a big fan of BBS wheels on a CS. I saw a set of these on a 2000 750iL and had to take a closer look.

Tires and tire fit is not an issue.
Tire will be 205/55 r16 for the front and 225/50 r16 for the rear, and these will be transferable to any 16" wheel I decide to put them on, and the 7.5" wheel is well within the width range of both tires.
I consider tires consumables just like gas and oil changes.

I found a set of these wheel and tires locally for $400 without looking too hard, and they are in new condition. Might be able to find them cheaper with some digging. but why. These wheels included tires that are the wrongs size, band new winter tires that fit my wifes car, so really these wheels were free.

Check the offset. Wheels that fit the E9 usually run ET10-ET20. I believe all more modern BMW wheels are more around ET30-ET40

so they simply might not fit and catch on springs, brakes, suspension etc.

So I am just starting my project and picked these wheels up as I mentioned above.

Here is a picture with the style 61s. Wheels are 7.5j x 16 H20 = 20 mm offset

The please note that the car is rough, rustly, stock 73 bumpers and suspension, but I want to share as I think the wheels turned out nice.

Standard 16" tires for a CS, 205/55 r16 front and 225/50 r16 rear. I had to add 7mm spacers in the front to give the rubber some room to flex and not rub on the strut tower. With out spacers they just barely cleared.

Wow...

That hardly looks like a "rough and rusty" car. Comment, ever the picky one are I: the wheels and tires look in some way too large for the body. Maybe it's just clearance between the top of the tire and the fender lip, which is of course adjustable if you remove the spacers, or with another spring/shocks combo. But then it might rub. My 2 cents, YMMV.

I just took the front spacers off the top of the front shock towers. Lowers it a bit. Lots of things to do to get it to look just right. Are there blocks on the back too on the '73?

The fronts might rub when I get lowering springs, but have not got them yet. I need to get on the back order list for some Carl Nelson springs, unless some pop up here first.... not likely.

The car is definitly a 20 footer (looks good from 20 feet away).
