I'm trying to change oil and filter. I have the top bolt canister type, loosened the bolt to drop the canister down, it went until it rested against the anti sway bar and the oil pan and won't go any further. There isn't enough room to bring it up and out so what am i missing? The manual says nothing about removing other parts to do this job. If it is something really simple then you can have a good chuckle at my expense. Thanks, Steve .

it should come out from the top after much horizontal manipulation and spillage of oil.

Yes, should come out the top. You will need to push wires and hoses out of the way a bit to lift it out. Wrap a large ziplock bag around the canister before removing to catch the spills as you tilt this around.

On my "to do" list too

What is the part number of the replacement filter? From most any supplier as they all cross reference

Out of curiosity, is there a different base that can be used (from another motor/model) to convert to a spin on filter?

You can get a spin on kit from Korman or Ireland Engineering - I converted mine and no longer have to bathe me or my driveway in oil anymore. I use a Royal Purple filter from any local parts store.
