Hello working on my 2002 with M10 I am about to put the oil pan in place , I was wondering what is the best sealer to use with the oil pan gasket / I have been told RTV , Anerobic, and no sealer at all just the gasket. I would like some educated ideas on whats best to use . Thanks for any replys .

I've had great success with a silicone-based Toyota product called "Seal Packing 103 (FIPG)", PN 00295-00103 - it's the same stuff they use at LJI.

you are closing two different parts of two different materials, cast iron to aluminium, the cast iron block is almost stable so usually it will need no joint product and the gasket alone just will be fine
the aluminium is usually more flexible and that means some geometric variations so a use of a joint material can be a good idea
do not forget the instructions
1apply joint prodict first
2let it dry a bit
3put the parts together, and put the bolts in their place using your hand only, no tool for torque settings
4let it dry some minutes(read specs)
5apply the specified torque

There is a product called "The Right Stuff". I've used it on several cars on the oil pan to block joints, with no other gasket, and it has worked marvelously. Zero leaks ever. Flaky name but it's seriously good. And if it matters, it's ready to be put in service almost immediately.

It's not a simple RTV but much tougher than that so bits won't break off and float in the oil system causing all types of problems. It's pretty amazing stuff and used by OEM's. Do some googling and you'll read the positive reports. The only drawback is that it is more expensive than the other alternatives.
