Question for the experienced, this is getting a little more complex than I want to guess on.

Oil pumps are definitely different which compliments the oil pans.
1. I assume the b30 pump has to follow the oil pan over to the b35?
2. Drive sprockets are significantly different diameter which makes me worry about
1. Sufficient Pump flow
2. Chain length
3. Any other details I missed?

Thanks!

3 gears
2 chains
Many pick ups
Early, middle and later pumps

Use the pump from the b35 and the pickup that fits the pan
Relieve the pump housing at shaft if needed

As I recall, I bought a replacement pump for my B35 prior to swapping it in, and the main thing I moved over was the pickup so I could re-use the stock pan. If you are transplanting a B35 pump to a B30 engine, then like Don said, you'd either need to make the old sprocket work on the B35 pump and move the pickup, or also update the rest of the oil chain system to B35 components, like the chain and crank sprocket due to the change in the total length required from the sprocket being larger.

That also raises an interesting question, though. Assuming the crank sprocket didn't change, then that means the older pump actually spins slightly faster because the gear diameter is smaller. I wonder if they increased the B35 pump per-revolution displacement?

Thanks! I found your descriptive comments from another post, walked me through perfectly
