I know a lot of you own vintage Porsche's as well. And if you don't appreciate the significance of stuff like this as car guys. But looks like this is turning into a pretty cool story. The cool thing is the owner that had it for 30 years is the one that "discovered" what he really had after all these years. They are all going bonkers over there on Early 911S Reg. Here is the link:

Does this help, this was all he posted for now

The last one is the VIN in the not so secret spot under radio if you remove the knee pad you can see it. Hope this helps, odd you couldn't view the pictures, I didn't think you needed to be a member to view posts, maybe that changed. For most anybody, you don't even have to be a purist to realize that the 80's were not very kind to this rare classic, if it is indeed what he says it is. From the under dash VIN it sure looks like the real deal. It will obviously take a lot to bring it back to its former glory...

What is the Kardex they mention? The build record for the car?

Yes, it's literally a file card that has all the build data for the car, including updates and changes to the mechanicals if the factory was involved, as in this case.

This is really an amazing find!

This is what I wished BMW did. You can still get the original Kardex through one of the Early 911S registry members for a fee and you can order the Porsche certificate of authentication which is basically the same thing as long as they didn't screw it up minus the original owner info from Porsche. Germany privacy laws changed all that. Can't give out personal info. Why are Kardex's useful? It is great for verifying the options that originally came with the car. As we all know, sometimes these cars have had so much stuff done to them and without records, sometimes it is hard to tell what was stock and what was not. BMW only provides the importer and the original color code, which again is nice to know but most of us can verify that with enough digging. I bet BMW has all that info, just not sure why they do not share, maybe some day.
