Does anyone out there know a good person to work with in the Orange County area to rebuild/install new engine and new transmission for a '71 2800 CS? Or better yet, does anyone have either of these lying around and wanting to sell? Thanks for any help or advice
 
I have had very good luck with EuroTech at 24002 Via Fabricante in Mission Viejo. 768 4055 Tim "A" is the proprietor.

EuroTech did a 5 speed conversion to my 2800CS, and some other maintenance. They know the older BMW's pretty well.

Murry will no doubt recommend Mesa Performance in Costa Mesa, and they are probably great as well. But, if you want someone more local to Laguna, I'd try EuroTech
 
Ron at Coast Motor Werk in Huntington Beach is very conversant in older BMWs. He has an E9 Alpina at the shop now and an E3 that he's restoring. There have been a number of e9s and E3s that I have seen there and the workmanship always looks very good. (I have no affiliation with the shop other than renting space in their storage area where I store and work on TBL)

Not Mesa Performance--they are for both new and used parts only--no facilities for services or installation.

Concur with Jay re Euro Tech in Mission Viejo--Tim A. has been around our early cars a long time
Also Ron at Coast Motor Werk-talented guy and experienced with the early ones

Euro Tech much closer to you--no affliliation with either
